      34th Annual Chocolate Ball

Epilepsy-Pralid Inc. (EPI) will hold its 34th Annual Chocolate Ball on Saturday, February 1st, 2020. More than 400 guests are expected to attend the event, which raises funds for EPI’s epilepsy programs and services such as support groups, education, youth conferences and the only week-long overnight camp in New York State for kids with epilepsy.

The highlight of the event is the Chefs Cake Competition. Pastry Chefs from the region create elaborate chocolate cakes inspired by the theme of the event, which this year is the depths of the ocean and marine life. Six awards are presented to the chefs: Best Taste with 1st place and Runner Up, Best Showpiece with 1st place and Runner Up, The Grand Prize and The People’s Choice Award.

Newcomers and long-time participants are featured in the Chocolate Ball 2020 competition, including chefs from Ma Fille (Rochester), Something Delicious (Rochester), The Cake Place (Avon), Get Caked (Rochester), Red Horse Bakery (Rochester), Caramel Bakery and Bar (Rochester), Half Moon Bakery & Bistro (Rochester), and Jamie’s Dream ((Rochester).

EPI serves people in 22 counties in New York State, including the greater Rochester area, the Finger Lakes region, Syracuse and Binghamton. EPI provides tailored support solutions to meet the physical, behavioral, and social needs of people with epilepsy, developmental disabilities, and brain injuries.

The agency serves more than 6,000 children and adults who suffer from epilepsy and seizure disorders. More than 70 children, age 6 to 18, attend EPI’s Camp EAGR. The camp is held in August at the YMCA Camp Weona in Wyoming County, New York. The camp, open to children who suffer from epilepsy and their siblings, has an on-site 24-hour medical team of neurologists and nurse practitioners.

EPI is a founding member of the Epilepsy Alliance America, a new nation-wide network of human service agencies dedicated to providing local support to people affected by epilepsy.

      Cost: 200.00
